Preparing for the Permanent Implant Procedure You may be scheduled for a Permanent Implant procedure once the following criteria have been satisfied:
Placement of Permanent Leads and Implantable Pulse Generator (IPG)
The permanent procedure is more involved than the Test Drive procedure and is usually performed as an outpatient procedure. One or two leads will be placed in the space above your spinal cord. The leads are then connected to the IPG which is implanted under the skin. |

Customize the Therapy
Your system will then be programmed to help relieve your specific pain as much as possible. It is important that you provide the best feedback you can so your SCS programs will cover your areas of pain. Once the system has been programmed, you will be able to use the remote control to adjust the stimulation. This is the same Cordless Remote Control used for the Test Drive. This will allow you to turn the therapy on and off, adjust the intensity and change your settings. |

Living with your Stimulator
You will receive a Cordless Charger which will be used to charge your IPG battery. Before you are discharged, you will be shown exactly how to use the Cordless Charger and how to charge your IPG battery. The Charger is designed to be simple and gives you the freedom of on-the-go charging. |

"Pain can completely take over your life. It becomes your life. You can’t do simple things: You can’t drive. You can’t go to the grocery store. You can’t interact with your friends and family. I would definitely encourage anyone who is a prospect to try SCS therapy. I’m just super grateful. I can’t imagine what my life would be like without SCS. I’m so thankful because right now everything that happened just seems like a bad dream that I woke up from." Hillari Ropo Chronic Pain |

Even though the Precision PlusTM SCS System is called a “Permanent Implant,” it can be turned off at any time and if needed, surgically removed. Some patients decide to give up their SCS systems once they experience the pain relief. It's always an option.
