Control Your Pain with Spinal Cord Stimulation

Taking SCS for a Test Drive

People who are currently using SCS therapy often speak about how their lives were once controlled by pain. They remember how hard it was to relax, spend time with friends and family, or just go about daily life when pain controlled their lives. For the hundreds of thousands who now manage their pain with SCS, scheduling a Test Drive (also known as a trial or screening test) of the therapy was the first step toward controlling their pain – and making their lives smoother.

Control Your Pain with Spinal Cord Stimulation

Taking Control of Your Pain

The Test Drive will help you decide whether spinal cord stimulation provides adequate relief from your pain before getting an implanted system. Your doctor will set you up with a Test Drive which lasts approximately one to two weeks, so you can try the therapy in the comfort of your own home. After the test drive, you and your doctor will discuss your experience with the therapy and decide whether you should move forward with a permanent system.

The Test Drive will allow you and your doctor to answer the following questions:
  • Do you like the feeling of the stimulation?
  • Does the Precision PlusTM SCS System effectively reduce your pain?
  • Will SCS therapy improve your ability to function and resume daily activities?

The Test Drive System Components

Precision Plus Trial Stimulator Precision Plus Leads
The External Trial Stimulator (ETS) generates the electrical pulses and is worn outside the body on a belt. Trial Leads deliver the pain masking signals to your spinal cord.
Precision Plus Cables Precision Plus Remote Control
Cables help connect the leads to the ETS. The Remote Control is a cordless device that allows you to control when, where and how much stimulation you receive.
